Risk analysis for cooperation policies benefits in reducing the bullwhip effect in a telecom supply chain

چکیده
Supply chain demand is often prone to fluctuations and instability. Known as the ‘bullwhip effect’, small variations in end-item demand create order and inventory oscillations that amplify from a downstream site to an upstream site. Applying a risk analysis approach, and assuming the bullwhip phenomenon as a constant reality, this paper will present the profits or losses that can accrue from various corporation policies. The latter are based on planning, information sharing and stock-adjustment strategies adopted by the supply chain actors. The system considered for this research is a four-stage supply chain. To allow risk measures and analysis, a specific discrete-event-simulation system was developed.

The Impact of Forecasting Methods Combination for Reducing Bullwhip Effect in a Four-level Supply Chain under Variable Demand
Bullwhip effect in a supply chain, makes inefficiencies such as excess inventory and overdue orders during the chain. These problems can be reduced by appropriate predictions. Forecasting must be done in all levels of a supply chain. This research addresses the problem of optimal combination of forecasting to reduce the bullwhip effect in a four-level supply chain when demand is variable. For t...
متن کاملMeasuring and Analyzing the Bullwhip Effect in a Two-Product and Two Echelon Supply Chain Using Control Theory Approach
Coordination is very important in supply chain management and it is one of the main factors in supply chain profitability. Bullwhip effect is one of the basic obstacles to achieve coordination in supply chains and reduction of this phenomenon has an important role in supply chain harmony. The other side, costs of supply chain can be mitigated and customer service level can be increased by reduc...
متن کاملAnalyzing Bullwhip Effect in Supply Networks under Exogenous Uncertainty
This paper explains a model for analyzing and measuring the propagation of order amplifications (i.e. bullwhip effect) for a single-product supply network topology considering exogenous uncertainty and linear and time-invariant inventory management policies for network entities. The stream of orders placed by each entity of the network is characterized assuming customer demand is ergodic. In fa...
متن کاملThe Bullwhip Effect on the VMI-Supply Chain Management viaSystem Dynamics Approach: The Supply Chain with Two Suppliers and One Retail Channel
This work investigates the effect of different inventory policies of a supply chain model using the system dynamics approach which belongs to the class of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), automatic pipeline, inventory and order based production control systems (VMI-APIOBPCS). This work helps management to investigate the effect of different policies such as adding the VMI system or third party l...
متن کاملControlling the Bullwhip Effect in a Supply Chain Network with an Inventory Replenishment Policy by a Robust Control Method
This paper develops a mathematical model using differential equations and considers a bullwhip effect in a supply chain network with multiple retailers and distributors. To ensure the stability of the entire system and reduce the bullwhip effect, a robust control method and an inventory replenishment policy are proposed. This shows that the choice of the output matrix may reduce the bullwhip ef...
